I hope everyone enjoys the four-day break Rodeo provides. I myself am leaving Wednesday morning for three days' attendance at the annual conference of the National Association of Independent Schools in San Francisco, Wednesday through Friday.

I will be blogging, of course, not as an "official" NAIS blogger, but along with many other bloggers as part of the NAIS AC "Online community" which, if you are interested,  you can find here: http://naisac10.wordpress.com/

You can also follow my blog at www.21k12blog.net.

Students Invited to Participate in the US Presidential Scholars Program

Congratulations to Jacob Lifton and Amanda Liu! Both students have been invited to participate in the United States Presidential Scholars Program. Jacob and Amanda are among a group of 3,000  chosen from 3.2 million high school students to participate in the program.

This is one of the nation's highest honors for high school students; only 141 students nationwide are named as Presidential Scholars in May. Application is by invitation only and students are invited to apply based on their scores on the SAT or ACT exam, their year of graduation from high school, and whether they are U.S. Citizens. Students chosen as Presidential Scholars receive an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D. C. in June and are awarded the Presidential Scholars' medallion at a ceremony sponsored by the White House. Best of luck, Amanda and Jacob!

Wolfe Bowart Performs

On Monday, March 1st we have the opportunity to have Wolfe Bowart perform for our school.  Mr. Bowart is a delightful performer who mixes theater, clowning, stage illusion (magic), interactive film, and physical comedy.  He is truly exceptional, blending all these elements into a magical theater experience. He has toured the world with his solo shows and returns to Tucson every year to create and premiere a new production.  His performance for us will be very simple:  a ten-to-fifteen-minute performance with a ten-to-fifteen-minute question/lecture/demonstration.

Mr. Bowart's new show, "The Man the Sea Saw", opens at the Berger Center for Performing Arts on March 5th. Mr. Bowart appears on "Arizona Illustrated" tonight (Wednesday, February 24) at 6:30pm on KUAT 6. You can also listen to Mr. Bowart as he chats with Mark McLemore on KUAZ's "Arizona Spotlight" (89.1FM) on Friday, February 26 and repeated on Saturday, February 27.
