Have a Happy Thanksgiving. As we enjoyed the visits of many dozens of grandparents this morning, we were reminded of all the many families who come together to form this St. Gregory community, and I know I speak for all us who work here at the school when I say we are profoundly grateful for the trust you place in us, and the support you give us, in the sacred work of educating your children.   My family and I feel deeply appreciative this year for the kind welcome that has been provided to us as we have moved to Tucson and joined the school community, and we look forward to many more years, and many more holidays, as part of this fine school community.  Have a nice holiday.

As I told students yesterday, I include each of them among my blessings, for very different reasons.  My personal mission of service to all of you, parents, students, and colleagues, enriches my life in countless ways.

At this Thanksgiving holiday, may we remember to be grateful for everything that makes us better people, whether that means
smarter, wiser, stronger, kinder, healthier, more patient, more loving, more caring... the list goes on and on, and I trust it always will.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Upper School Basketball

The Lady Hawks have started beautifully with two decisive wins over Baboquivari and San Manuel on Monday, November 23.  The ladies beat Baboquivari by 30 points and then went on to defeat rival San Manuel by 20.  Last year, the team lost to San Manuel in the championship game of the Boyd Baker, so this year's victory was particularly satisfying.  The Hawks were led by sophomore guard Alex Berman who led all players in scoring and steals.  Guards Christine Porter, Bev Bass, and Alex Berman led a tenacious defense that both opponents struggled to beat.  Seniors Emma Finkelstein, Jordan Davies, and Taryn Parsons were steadfast leaders on the court and contributed important buckets, assists, and rebounds.  All the younger players saw playing time and contributed solidly to the team effort.

Tonight the team takes on Benson (another long-standing rival) at 7:30 pm.  It should be a great game.  The tournament continues tomorrow with game times and locations to be determined by the outcome of tonight's contest.  Boyd Baker is always an exciting tournament! We hope to see you at a game!

Boyd Baker Tip-Off Classic

The Boyd Baker tournament continues today after decisive wins by both men's and women's teams (more detail on the ladies' games below) on Monday afternoon and evening.  Women play Benson tonight at 7:30 p.m. and men play Academy of Tucson at 8:45 p.m.  After those games, you can hear upcoming game times by calling 327-6395 x250.  The tournament wraps up Wednesday night.

Go, Hawks!
