Upper School Curriculum

English
Required: English 1, 2, 3; English 4 or AP English Literature

Electives: Journalism, Creative Writing

During the four-year course of study, students learn basic verbal skills with intensive concentration on grammar, sentence structure, rhetorical techniques, vocabulary, expository writing, and argumentative writing. Emphasis is placed on reading for skill-building, comprehension, and pleasure. Among required reading are selections from Greek mythology, contemporary novels, and Shakespearean drama.

Mathematics
Required: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 or Algebra 2/Trigonometry

Electives: Precalculus A, Precalculus B, Precalculus AB, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC (upon demand), AP Statistics

Modern and Classical Languages
Required: Three years in one language: Spanish, French or Latin

Electives: Spanish 4, AP Spanish Language, AP Spanish Literature (upon demand), AP French Language (upon demand), AP French Literature (upon demand), AP Latin Vergil (upon demand)

History
Required: World History, European History or AP European History, U.S. History or AP U.S. History

Science
Required: Three years of lab science, including Biology and Chemistry
