English
Required: English 1, 2, 3, AP English Literature
Electives: Journalism, Creative Writing, Beginning and Advanced Yearbook
During the four-year course of study, students learn basic verbal skills with intensive concentration on grammar, sentence structure, rhetorical techniques, vocabulary, expository writing, and argumentative writing. Emphasis is placed on reading for skill-building, comprehension, and pleasure. Among required reading are selections from Greek mythology, contemporary novels, and Shakespearean drama.
Electives: Quantitative Analysis, Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC (upon demand)
Modern and Classical Languages
Required: Three years in one language: Spanish, French or Latin (at least two years during high school)
Electives: Spanish 4, AP Spanish Language, AP Spanish Literature (upon demand), AP French Language (upon demand), French Literature (upon demand), AP Latin Vergil (upon demand), Latin Literature (upon demand)
Required: Three years of lab science, including Biology and Chemistry, and one elective
Fine Arts
Required: One-semester course in Art History, Music History, or Theater History and one semester of a performance/studio elective
Electives:
One-semester: Studio Art 1A and 1B, Beginning Drama A and B, Stagecraft A and B, Band A and B, Choir A and B, Public Speaking
Year: Music Theory and Composition, Theater Production 1 and 2, Theater Design, Band, Choir, Studio Art 2 and 3, AP Studio Art (upon demand), Digital Photography 1, 2, and 3, Intermediate Drama 1 and 2, Advanced Drama
Fine Arts Activities: Drama Production and Musical Theatre Production. These activities require after-school and weekend commitments
Leadership and Innovation Learning
