Middle School Head Welcome

HFairclothOver time, parents who seek out the very best educational setting for their child rank class size and world-class teaching as their most important concerns. At St. Gregory Middle School, the average class of fifteen students is taught by legendary teachers who are called to the work of early adolescent education. Also high on parents' list of concerns is a substantive curriculum that promotes both critical and creative thinking. The scale and pace of our core classes - math, science, social studies, and language arts - allow our teachers to guide students deep into authentic application of the subject rather than just covering information to pass a test. Whether it be in one of our Latin, French, or Spanish classes, or in one of our dance, art, music, PE, or drama classes, students will have the opportunity to strengthen and extend their communication and performance skills at a level that is absent in many schools in our community.

The Middle School teachers and I are committed to fostering five key attributes to insure that students personalize and make meaning of their St. Gregory learning experience:
  • All students must have a belief in themselves as being at the center of their own learning.
  • All students will feel physically, intellectually, and emotionally safe.
  • All students will be able to incorporate new works and the ideas behind the new works as they converse with others.
  • All students will learn to express their views while encouraging the views of others, understanding that what is true for oneself is not necessarily true for another.
  • All students will develop an expanding capacity for dealing with active uncertainty.
All students will develop an expanding capacity for dealing with active uncertainty. I invite you and your student to visit our campus to experience firsthand the St. Gregory experience.
