Testing FAQ's

December 13, 2008 and January 17, 2009.
RSVP Debby Kenndy at dkennedy@stgregoryschool.org
Out of town applicants should contact Debby Kennedy for testing instructions.

What tests will be given?
Reading Comprehension: 35 minutes
Concepts of Numbers: 15 minutes
Math Applications: 25 minutes
Writing Exercise: 20 minutes

What time is the test?
The test begins at 9:00AM.  Applicants should arrive on campus by 8:45AM.  Signs will direct applicants and parents to the Dining Hall.

When will the test be over?
Most applicants finish the test by 11:15.

Why does a parent have to accompany the applicant?
First, many students are nervous about testing and being with a familiar adult will help alleviate their apprehension.  Parents can stay with their children until 9:00, when the testing begins.
St. Gregory’s Parent Ambassadors will be available to meet with parents and talk about their experiences at St. Gregory.

What if my child wakes up sick the morning of the test?
We don’t want children who are not feeling well to test.  Another testing day can be arranged.  Please call the Admissions Office to arrange another testing date.

Can my child take the test all three testing dates and use the best score?
No.

If my child takes the test in February, will he or she do better than applicants who take the test in December?
There is no difference in results based on the time of year an applicant takes the test.

Will I get my child’s results?
Yes, testing results will be sent out to parents and a copy of the results will be included in the applicant’s file.

What is the difference between the Admissions Test and the Math Placement Test?
The Math Placement test is given in mid-May to all accepted students and will determine placement in Math.  The math section of the Admissions test will test the child’s math knowledge at the time of testing.
