During the four-year course of study, students learn basic verbal skills with intensive concentration on grammar, sentence structure, rhetorical techniques, vocabulary, expository writing, and argumentative writing. Emphasis is placed on reading for skill-building, comprehension, and pleasure. Among required reading are selections from Greek mythology, contemporary novels, and Shakespearean drama.
