Thank you for considering the Upper School at St. Gregory for your child. Over the next four years, young people experience amazing transformations in their persons and in their lives. St. Gregory provides both vehicle and support for those changes. While preparation for college is a priority, the faculty and staff at St. Gregory recognizes that these years are significant in and of themselves. As students live the rich experiences of these years, they prepare for college....and for life.
When children succeed as a result of real effort, they develop not only important skills, but confidence in their ability to meet challenges of many |
kinds. In the upper school, students are challenged by a demanding curriculum. They learn to develop their own theses, support their ideas, articulate their thoughts in written and oral form. Through classroom instruction, extracurricular activities, community service, and management of their own free time, St. Gregory upper schoolers are encouraged to solve problems, explore new ideas, and discover areas of interest. Faculty members take an interest in their students as evolving human beings, recognizing that academic accomplishments are only part of the picture. The triple emphasis on character, scholarship, and leadership helps to assure that we reach our goal of educating the whole child: intellectual, spiritual, emotional, aesthetic, physical, and social.
Please take a look at our upper school academics, arts, and elective courses, our college counseling program, and the athletic program. Call me to ask any questions you may have and to discuss your child’s particular interests. I will be happy to refer you to faculty members who work in those areas .
At St. Gregory, your child will be seen, heard, and encouraged to reach his or her potential. I would never want anyone to feel that high school was the best time of his or her life; it should be a time when a person begins to believe that not only is the best yet to come, it is entirely possible. A St. Gregory education can help make that happen.
