PHILOSOPHY
St. Gregory believes in educating the whole child (intellectual, physical, emotional, social, spiritual, aesthetic) in a supportive, student-centered school community that values the rigors and joy of learning and the dignity, self-worth, and potential of each individual.

MISSION STATEMENT
St. Gregory challenges its students to pursue excellence in character, scholarship, and leadership.

In this pursuit, St. Gregory strives to foster these guiding principles: character built on personal integrity, compassion, and respect; disciplined scholarship grounded in intellectual curiosity, independent thought, and effective communication; and the development of courageous, civil, and responsible leadership.

MAJOR SCHOOL RULES/GUIDING PRINCIPLES
St. Gregory assumes that all students will strive daily to demonstrate character, scholarship, and
leadership. St. Gregory students have rights, privileges, and responsibilities as members of the school community. Students’ rights and privileges are dependent upon fulfillment of their
responsibilities. Students are expected to behave at all times in a manner that contributes
positively to the welfare of the St. Gregory community.

St. Gregory students agree to abide by four guiding school principles: honesty, respect,
responsibility, and safety. Should a student choose to violate this agreement, it will be
considered a very serious offense and can lead to detention, suspension, disciplinary probation,
and/or dismissal.

Rule #1: HONESTY
Be honest and trustworthy.

St. Gregory students are expected to act with integrity at all times. Academic integrity is
essential to the growth of the students and the health of the school. Lying or intentionally misleading another for personal gain or to avoid penalties cannot be condoned in a community based upon trust. Stealing and cheating cut at the heart of trust and a sense of community.

Rule #2: RESPECT
Respect oneself and be respectful of all people, property and the environment.

Respect is a hallmark of St. Gregory. It includes fostering appreciation, understanding, and
tolerance for individual and cultural differences. It refers as well to acts of courtesy,
cooperation, and sportsmanship. There is no place at St. Gregory for harassment, vandalism, or
littering. Students are expected to be stewards of the environment.

Rule #3: RESPONSIBILITY
Meet all responsibilities and obligations.

St. Gregory students are expected to fulfill all commitments inside and outside the classroom.
Students are personally accountable for their choices. Students are encouraged to make wise
decisions, cognizant of the consequences for self and others.

Rule #4: SAFETY
Be safe by making wise choices.

St. Gregory is concerned for the well-being, health, and welfare of its students. The school is
committed to educating its students about the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and violent behavior.
The use of, possession of, or association with alcohol, non-prescribed drugs, tobacco
products, or weapons is prohibited at school and school functions.
